During the survey period, the Times of Swaziland continued with its dominance on readership followed, at a distance, by the Swazi Observer. The statistics for the local newspapers include both weekend and daily publications. (See the Swazi-MAMS for a distinction on readership of daily and weekend newspapers). Three South African Newspapers were most read, i.e. The Sowetan, The Star and the Sunday Sun.

Because people read newspapers for news, they are in the right mental frame to process advertisements that present news of store openings, new products, sales, and so forth.
Mass audience coverage is a second strength of newspapers advertising.
The ability to use detailed copy is strength of newspaper advertising. Detailed product information and extensive editorial passages are used in newspaper advertising to an extent unparalleled by any other medium.
Timeliness is a final significant strength of newspaper advertising. Short lead times (the time between placing and ad and running t) permit advertisers to tie in advertising copy with local market developments or newsworthy events.
Important notice
Always determine the survey area used before using any of the reports available in this section. Check whether it is based on the Corridor Survey Area (CSA), Key Towns and Cities (kTC), or National Survey Area (NSA). You can also find more information about the methodology here.
