


As the trend line shows, most of the respondents started their businesses in 2006. There was also a significantly high business start up rate in 2004, which was followed by a slump in 2005. Note; the boom in business startups in 2006 coincides with the boom in car ownership (see the transportation section). 60% of the businesses are reported to be in the retail/services sector, 6.7% are agro based, 4.4% are in the music/arts industry and 28.9% are scattered in different other industries.
